WordPress is a favorite tool of mine. When some colleagues who run the communications with the crisis employees of the disaster management department of Groningen needed a tool to send articles, it seemed like WordPress would be a good fit for the job. They can manage it themselves with minimal maintenance from my side. This might seem like a strange argument, but a website needs maintenance. And users need support. And with limited time, having a CMS like WordPress makes sure I can do more than one thing at a time.
The website itself is pretty standard. I wanted to make sure the colleagues could do as much as possible without me being involved. So got them a standard theme that is well documented and uses Elementor as a page builder.
This is another project with basically 0 budget, both in time and in money. So that informed a lot of the choices here.
