Heya!

My name is Jeroen and I make software. I am the solo dev behind Factcheck.nl, a webapp to make life just that tiny bit easier. Build with your privacy in mind, I am trying to make an honest tool to help you out.

I am also a programmer at GGD Groningen, where I support the epidemiology department creating scripts and systems for the researchers.

So what it comes down to is that I use programming/coding languages like Python, R, SQL, HTML, Javascript and CSS to make computers do neat stuff. (Can you tell I enjoy my work?)

Want to know more? You can find some of my work in my portfolio below. Feel free to browse around and if you want to get in touch, feel free to contact me through my contact info on the about page!

Factcheck.nl - Privacy friendly tooling

This webapp helps you save time while doing your finances. Meant to be simple to use, but with powerful features to give you insight without giving away your personal information.

The app is free to use, but with premium features through Patreon.

Veiligheidsregio Groningen(.nl)

When I worked for Veiligheidsregio Groningen, a disaster response organization, I managed their website and the infrastructure behind it. I got to change entire set-up on my own with a designer helping me out with the looks.

In a landscape of large commercial companies offering cookie-cutter websites to government agencies this was a fun project which saved a lot of tax payer money.

Amazon Third Party-filter

This tool filters the third party sellers from your Amazon search results. This way you can buy from Amazon itself more easily. It's just a small piece of software to make shopping a bit eaier.

Tooling OBI4WAN

If you have used OBI4WAN, you'll know it requires some careful use to get the most out of it. In times of crises being able to quickly set up OBI4WAN and get on with data analysis is crucial.

To aid our speed, I created a simple tool and analysis format to make sure we could meet deadlines.

Thuisfront

I think every journalist was inspired by Snowfall, a longread by the NY Times. At the paper where I worked, we wondered how close we could get with the limited resources we had.

It wasn't an easy road with an extremely limited budget both in time and money to get from a story to a longread. But thanks to a few gifted colleagues we got to a very nice end result.

Blijf Kalm (Stay calm)

During the first weeks of the Covid pandemic, I felt I needed to do something to get the message out about how to stay safe.

I made websites for a living. So thats what I did.
